Teaching
I have been teaching BIOL 1031 - Organismal Biology since Spring 2024 at Auburn University, and I was recently offered the opportunity to teach the BIOL 1037 - Organismal Biology Honors class, which has been an exciting step in my teaching journey.
Prior to this, I gained valuable teaching experience in Sri Lanka as a Teaching Assistant at the Open University of Sri Lanka for 2 years where I supported undergraduate courses and guided students in their learning.
Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in classroom instruction, mentoring, and curriculum support, and I enjoy helping students explore the fascinating world of biology while fostering curiosity and scientific thinking.
I value student feedback and carefully reflect on course evaluations each semester to continuously improve my teaching.
A few of my Teaching Feedbacks
"She is an amazing GTA. She is incredibly kind and a very good teacher.”
“Malsha created a fun learning environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and clarifying material I didn’t understand the first time.”
“I feel as if she truly cared about the students and how we learned. She was always encouraging us to engage and learn more.”
“She would often walk around and lend us a hand if she thought we were struggling, which made the lab much more engaging.”
These reflections encourage me to continuously grow as an educator and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
